A fake fiancé to a billionaire was definitely not on Devney Sinclair’s bingo card—and yet, she finds herself stepping into the role for her grumpy, emotionally off-limits boss, Ronan Wilder.

Ronan, along with his two best friends Knox and Gabriel, made a pact: no serious relationships until they turn forty. Their focus is singular—build Oath Capital into an undeniable powerhouse, with zero distractions. But when a potentially world-changing deal hinges on Ronan appearing settled and committed, he needs a convincing long-term partner fast. Enter Devney—his assistant, his opposite, his sunshine.

Devney is everything I love in a sunshine heroine. Her connection to sunflowers isn’t just a cute detail—it’s woven beautifully throughout the story in a way that feels symbolic and sincere. And the way Ronan pays attention to that? That’s where the romance really starts to bloom.

Ronan’s character arc is one of the highlights of this book. Watching his rigid, analytical mindset begin to shift as he falls for Devney is deeply satisfying. He starts as a man who values control and strategy above all else, but slowly realizes that loving Devney might be worth risking everything—including the deal he’s been chasing.

The grumpy/sunshine dynamic is done so well here, with just the right balance of tension, tenderness, and emotional payoff.

As the first installment in the Billionaire Hearts Club series, this book sets the stage perfectly. I’m already intrigued by Knox and Gabriel—and I have a strong suspicion (and hope!) that Devney’s best friend Lucy might be in for a love story of her own.

Overall, Taming Mr. Wilder is a warm, satisfying grumpy/sunshine romance with a heartfelt emotional core and just enough tension to keep the pages turning.
