Exclusive excerpt from Stormy Night

He looked up to see the bartender come over to him with her tablet. She had left it behind on the bar counter. He smiled and took this as a sign of fate that he was destined to get to know her better. He gathered his work items into his travel bag and looked up, only to see her walking out the front door with her daughter.

In a panic, he ran out, trying to catch her. He knew she would be upset about leaving her tablet behind. Looking around, he spotted her in the corner of the parking lot, opening the passenger door of a car. Apparently, her daughter had insisted on driving her home. 

He yelled, “Hey,” as loud as he could, over the crowd of people leaving. She looked up and saw him frantically waving her tablet. Her eyes were huge when she realized what she almost left behind. He saw her whisper to her daughter and then run across the parking lot toward him.

Her face was flushed, from the wine or from running, he wasn’t sure. When she came up close to him, he inhaled sharply at the sight of her. She looked beautiful! 

“Wow, I can’t believe I left my tablet. Thank you so much. You’ve come to my rescue yet again. I thought you left. I stopped by the bar to thank you for the bottle of wine, but you were gone.”

“No, I didn’t leave. I was inspired by a certain woman tonight.” He grinned a warm, heart-stopping, sexy grin. “I took your advice and acted spontaneously. I rolled up my sleeves, sat in a back booth, and got a jump start on a big work project. I was just leaving and looking for you, but saw you exiting the front door. I’m glad I caught you in time. So, what about you?” he challenged. “Are you going to take your own advice and do something spontaneous?” His eyes searched hers and a heightened sense of excitement ran through them both.

With their eyes locked in a gaze, she stretched up on her tiptoes and slowly reached behind his head and brought his lips to hers. She kissed him passionately, slowly, softly, but with urgency. The warm feel of his lips against hers drove her crazy. The kiss seemed to go on for an eternity. The passion she’d been holding in, came pouring out from her willing lips. Her tongue found his, causing him to groan and respond. With one hand in her soft hair, he reached behind her waist with the other hand and pulled her body closer to him. She instantly felt his hardness and moaned. He knew she was full of desire for him. 

Finally, they broke apart, neither wanting their magical moment to end. Their pulses were racing, their warm bodies aching for more. Their eyes locked, bright green and baby blue, and they were both shocked at the intense feelings between them.

“Mom, we have to go! Get in the car. No more wine for you, woman,” Rose exclaimed with a laugh. “Collin, will you please tell my mom to get in the car! Thank God she’s not driving!”

The magic moment was broken. Still reeling, Marena realized she had way too much wine. It must have driven her to madness. What was she thinking, standing out here in front of everyone kissing a stranger? What if he’s married or has a girlfriend? Within seconds she was led to the car and Rose’s boyfriend was driving off, leaving the handsome rescuer standing there stunned, with his jaw dropped.

What just happened?? This woman came into his life only a few hours earlier, but the burning passion between them told him everything he needed to know. She had rocked his world with just one kiss! Then it dawned on him, in horror, he didn’t even know her name!
