“Romantic, lush, and suspenseful.”—New York Times bestselling author Suzanne Enoch

I received The Devil in Her Bed (Devil You Know, #3) for free. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

I’ve read several of Kerrigan Byrne’s novels, but none from this series. It is the third book in the series so I did fear I would possibly be a little lost. I was not. This story included most of the important information from the first two in the series so I didn’t feel out of step. What I didn’t even fathom was the horrific and depraved villainous group that three women had been determined to crush below their slippers, The Crimson Council.

The summary intrigued me, but it did leave much out. So much so, I am not entirely sure I can write this review without any spoilers. I am going to try.

Francesca Cavendish lost her entire world as a girl when a death brigade invaded her home and murdered almost everyone beneath the roof before it was set ablaze. Her body, mind, and soul craved revenge for the most heinous act. She’s waited twenty years for it all to come to fruition. When she can almost touch the ribbons attached to the guilty’s final demise, a man of many faces enters to reach for them with her.

The Devil of Dorset has gone by many names throughout his lifetime. Four different times he has entered Francesca’s life, all by different names and none of them were the name he was born with. As the Devil and Francesca find they have a common task to destroy The Crimson Council, the Devil wants Francesca far from any danger. She has spent decades of her life waiting to cut the council down and not even the Devil will stop her.

This story has so many twists and turns that I was afraid Byrne would never be able to bring the story to a clear conclusion. Yet, she did exactly that. With explosive and passionate love scenes, the danger Francesca places herself in, and the chances the Devil takes to keep her safe are felt deep down in your bones. I wish I could give this a million stars, it was just that fantastic. I have no trouble saying this is the best book I’ve read this year. If you love danger, passion, and revenge in your historical romance, this is the novel for you! Now, I must go back and read the firs two novels in the series, How to Love a Duke in Ten Days and All Scot and Bothered.

About Kerrigan Byrne

If you’re anything like me, the best night is one spent with a brawny highlander, a mysterious werewolf, a conflicted vampire, or a hot-headed Irishman.
